Quercetin is a natural herbal compound found in many fruits and vegetables. It is a more powerful antioxidant than vitamin C, vitamin E, or beta carotene.

This bioflavonoid has been widely researched and may help to reduce inflammation, regulate the production and release of histamine, and inhibit viral replication. Quercetin is also a zinc ionophore helping to transport zinc into cells.

Recent studies suggest quercetin may help restore gut microbial balance – enhancing Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and beneficial Bacteroides whilst reducing pathogenic bacteria.

Quercetin also enhances intestinal barrier function by strengthening epithileal tight junctions helping to prevent so-called leaky gut.
