Quercetin is a natural herbal compound found in many fruits and vegetables. It is a more powerful antioxidant than vitamin C, vitamin E, or beta carotene.
This bioflavonoid has been widely researched and studies suggest it may help to reduce inflammation, regulate the production and release of histamine, and inhibit viral replication. It is also a zinc ionophore helping to transport zinc into cells.
Recent animal studies suggest quercetin may help restore gut microbial balance – enhancing Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and beneficial Bacteroides whilst reducing pathogenic bacteria.
